C-DAS Rail solutions

TTG Energymiser® saves fuel, reduces costs and carbon emissions, and increases your network capacity.

Sustainability is just one of the benefits

TTG Energymiser® is an automated, digital application for rail operators.

The Connected Driving Advice Systems (C-DAS) technology provides real-time driving advice reducing CO2 emissions, energy consumption and costs as well as improving on-time performance.

It seamlessly integrates with mission critical digital signalling and traffic management systems and rail management solutions including planning and scheduling and workforce management. Suitable for any train including passenger, freight, light rail & heavy haul.

Reduce carbon emissions

Reduce carbon emissions

Real-time driving advice decreases energy use, saves money, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions which helps your rail organisation address climate change commitments. TTG Energymiser® delivers performance and sustainability improvements to leading railways and manufacturers, including SNCF (France), KiwiRail (New Zealand), and Arriva, Abellio and First Group (United Kingdom).

Fuel efficient drivers

Fuel efficient drivers

Energy use can be half the lifetime locomotive operating cost and can vary significantly between drivers. Optimal driving modes increase efficiencies and reduce costs. It has achieved over 10% energy savings for passenger and coal trains in the United Kingdom, 9% for heavy-haul iron ore trains in Africa, and over 10% for freight trains in Australia, the United Kingdom and India.

Extended asset life

Extended asset life

Achieve better rail asset use and improve operations. TTG Energymiser® optimises rail trips, ensuring the most efficient stop-to-stop travel. It helps extend the life of rail assets by providing optimal driving advice that helps reduce wear and tear on trains and tracks. This in turn reduces maintenance costs by minimising braking and overspeeding – which are factors that significantly affect equipment lifespan.

Improved network capacity

Improved network capacity

TTG Energymiser® improves rail network capacity and performance by improving on-time running to critical timing point locations such as junctions and passing loops. This is especially important for complex and congested networks with a mix of passenger and freight services. Simulation studies, trials and proof of concepts can be undertaken before operators invest in TTG Energymiser®.

Integrated systems

Integrated systems

Trapeze’s C-DAS aligns with rail industry demands to automate and digitally connect operations. It integrates with other digital systems such as signalling and traffic management systems (e.g., ETCS, ATMS, PTC) that manage the efficiency and safety of rail operations. It also integrates with other Trapeze rail solutions including planning and scheduling and workforce management software.

Tailor-made for Rail

Tailor-made for Rail

TTG Energymiser® can be easily retrofitted and does not involve extensive configuration or large-scale capital investment. It has been used on railways in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, China, India, South-East Asia, Africa, and the USA. Trapeze can provide cloud or on-premise hosting. Depending on the rail operation, the TTG Energymiser® payback period is approximately one to three years - a fast return on investment.

How TTG Energymiser helps key stakeholders

From planning and scheduling to operations, procurement and management, many elements of your business will benefit from this technology.

Rail Management Teams
Significantly reduce fuel costs while also achieving organisational sustainability goals. Automatically analyse large datasets and produce reports quickly so that your rail business gains useful and actionable energy use insights in real-time. Integrate with Business Intelligence systems, support your business cases and technology road map.
Rail Operations
Trapeze’s C-DAS solution can reduce fuel and electricity use by over 10% and reduces train delays at junctions. Other benefits include better running, scheduling, maintenance outcomes, and reducing carbon emissions. When C-DAS helps meet your timetables, this reduces the potential for delays and penalties. C-DAS is automated, removes manual processes, and is interoperable.
Train Drivers
Help train drivers achieve timetable compliance by advising them of the optimum speed required. An on-board computer advises whether to coast or accelerate based on track geometry and speed profile, timetable, train characteristics and train position. Simulated driver training can be provided before drivers use C-DAS on the rail network.
Rolling Stock Manufacturers
TTG Energymiser® has been successfully integrated with other solutions and as part of rolling stock manufacturers, including Alstom and Bombardier’s offerings. C-DAS is often included as a mandatory tender requirement for new rollingstock, and our system is extensively used on congested networks like those in the United Kingdom.
Union Representatives
Help attract investment by promoting increased rail efficiencies over road transport, which creates more jobs, stability, and long-term prospects.  Drivers also have devices to increase mobility, improve performance and connect with home life. Trapeze provides driver training with union representatives to help ‘driver champions’ educate the workforce.
Government
C-DAS helps rail operators improve environmental performance by reducing carbon emissions, which, overall, contribute to government policy goals to meet greenhouse gas reduction targets. While rail is already the most efficient and least energy-intensive form of transport available, C-DAS further increases efficiencies also helps lower sustainability risks.
