Creating a bright future for rail travel within the Modaxo family

Find out how Trapeze is integrating Planning and Scheduling and Connected Driving Advice Systems to add value to rail operations.

As you may be aware, TTG Transportation Technology joined Trapeze Group (and Modaxo, our parent company) in January 2021, adding to the growing family of rail-focused solution providers within Modaxo, which also include Signature Rail and Binary Systems.

Since the acquisition of TTG, we at Trapeze have been considering ways to create extra value for our rail clients, using both TTG solutions and Trapeze products like TrainPlan®. This is especially in relation to new benefits that may arise if we enabled the entire range of software products to communicate with each other for a defined purpose.

There is a clear desire from our clients to have systems that seamlessly talk to each other to help improve their operations. Taking this feedback on board, we are currently exploring the potential to export whole timetable planning data direct from our planning and scheduling tool TrainPlan® to TTG’s in-cabin Driving Advice System on the train, Energymiser®.

There are significant benefits to be unlocked here – not least right time running. We believe, that gaining a good understanding of sectional running and dwell times would be extremely useful for rail operators in Australia, considering they involve far-reaching networks.

Trapeze has two established software products, both of which are resilient and dependable for their users. Therefore, we designed a schema that can automatically pass data from the timetable planning product, TrainPlan®, to the driver advisory system, Energymiser®

Interestingly, while this connection seems certain to be highly valuable for customers, it is actually a fairly straight forward development. In fact, perhaps the most difficult part of the process is identifying the opportunity in the first place.

This new integration will create more value for our customers and build a bright future for rail travel and sustainable mobility across the globe.
