Connect your Vehicles

The Trapeze Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) is the cornerstone of keeping your vehicles connected with the control centre, paramedics, and treatment centres. It is at the heart of delivering better ambulance services - enabling your paramedics to reach the scene earlier and transporting patients for treatment faster. The MDT is a rugged, high-performance, purpose-built unit for ambulances and is designed to operate reliably in harsh environments. While Trapeze has integrated the MDT with over 30 vehicle types – including vans, cars, motorcycles, and snowmobiles it is not limited to these and can be adapted to any vehicle type.

Real-time Communications

The MDT stays connected to the control centre, paramedic devices and clinical destinations with secure and reliable communications. It shows mission critical messages and data that inform paramedics along the entire Connected Journey. The MDT connects with the most reliable, cost-effective communication media, such as Long-Term Evolution (LTE) wireless broadband, radio, or satellite so data exchange is uninterrupted regardless of vehicle location. This makes the MDT suitable for urban, rural, and the most remote of areas.

It can also sync with portable devices including mobile phones and tablets and has enhanced safety and security features. Paramedics are informed via colour-coded warnings (red, amber, green) about the scene, for example, physical or human dangers. Vehicle alerts also provide information about potential issues. Emergency and duress buttons are fitted for when paramedics require additional help.

Automatic Vehicle Location and Routing

Routing services helps keep ambulance journeys on track – providing quick and accurate dispatch to the scene, and transport to a clinical destination.  Vehicle location is always known via the MDT GPS, which enhances safety for both paramedics and patients. TAMS also provides full historical route data for all vehicles, providing location and tracking information for the entire fleet, accessible at any time.

Telemetry and Telematics

The MDT interfaces directly to vehicle systems and equipment (e.g., CANbus, OBD2) to collect telemetry data on parameters like speed, coolant temperature, and duress alarms.  Information on over 50 vehicle datasets (depending on the vehicle) can be monitored, including critical systems like duress alarms and sirens. This alerts paramedics and the control centre of potential issues that affect vehicle availability and response times.

Fleet and Asset Management

Automated analysis of vehicle monitoring information converts complex data sets into predictive performance metrics to reduce maintenance costs. Vehicle status dashboards automatically generate maintenance alerts for the onboard crew that need attention outside of the standard servicing schedule, such as brake pad replacements, tyre pressure, and fluid leaks. TAMS records all vehicle service records and history, together with setting the next scheduled service.

TAMS can be integrated with RFID, BT, or other asset location systems, so that auto-generated messages can alert crew to clinical items and consumables requiring replenishment, including restricted medications. Movements of important, high-value items such as defibrillators are also traceable. TAMS also provides access to up-to-date information regarding clinical procedures in a digital format.
