Alternate Concepts, Inc. (ACI)

Alternate Concepts, Inc. (ACI) provides public transport operations and maintenance services to public and private clients across the United States of America.

In April 2016, the Regional Transportation District (RTD) opened the nation’s first modern public-private partnership for public transport. ACI and their partners, Fluor Enterprises and BBRI, are operating and maintaining the service.

However, the RTD contract required the team to not only operate the A-Line service for nearly 30 years but also maintain a multitude of rail assets. Furthermore, ACI had to come up with a budget that considered every component, its cost, and how often it had to be repaired, renewed or replaced over those years in order to win the RTD bid.

Background
  • 29-year partnership
  • 5 partners
  • 8 stations
  • 37km of railway track
Results
  • Seamless integration and high level of automation for asset maintenance
  • “Phenomenal” customer support
  • Colorado’s A-Line service now provides a world-class train-to-plane connection
